Exxaro Resources is inviting applications for a Driver, Lowbed position at its Grootegeluk Coal operations in Lephalale, Limpopo.
This is a permanent position for an experienced driver who will be responsible for safely operating lowbed vehicles to transport heavy equipment and machinery. Applicants need a Grade 10/Standard 8 Technical qualification, a valid Code C Public Driver’s Licence, and at least 1 year of relevant experience.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
–Grade 10 / Standard 8 Technical qualification.
–AET Level 4 certification.
-Valid Public Driver’s Licence โ Code C.
-At least 1 year of relevant experience transporting goods and machinery.
-Good understanding of workplace and vehicle safety regulations.
-Ability to conduct vehicle pre-use inspections.
-Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
-Ability to assist crane drivers with rigging activities.
Successful candidates will also be required to undergo:
- Psychometric Assessment conducted by Exxaro.
- Certificate of Fitness assessment conducted by Exxaro.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Conduct pre-use inspections on lowbed vehicles.
- Ensure vehicles are safe and operational before use.
- Monitor and maintain vehicle fluid levels according to manufacturer specifications.
- Immediately report vehicle defects to the transport workshop.
- Safely operate lowbed vehicles.
- Load and transport heavy machinery and equipment.
- Assist crane drivers with rigging duties.
- Secure loads using appropriate rigging techniques and principles.
- Follow all applicable safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintain good housekeeping standards.
- Clean and maintain vehicles after operation.
- Complete required vehicle checklists.
- Report defects identified after operations.
- Work collaboratively with other team members.
- Respond effectively to changing operational and business requirements.

Main Purpose of the Position
The Driver, Lowbed will support Grootegeluk Coal’s transport operations by safely transporting heavy machinery and equipment.
The role includes ensuring that lowbed vehicles remain safe and operational, loads are properly secured, vehicle inspections are completed, and all transportation and rigging activities comply with required safety standards.
