Pick n Pay is inviting unemployed South African youth to apply for the FreshRize Bakery Skills Programme 2026 in Gauteng.

About the Programme
The FreshRize Bakery Skills Programme combines online learning with practical in-store training to help unemployed youth develop the technical and workplace skills needed for a successful career in retail bakery operations.
Throughout the programme, learners will work alongside experienced bakery professionals while gaining hands-on experience in baking, food preparation, merchandising and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
Successful learners will:
- Attend and complete all online learning modules and assessments.
- Participate in two days of online learning and three days of practical in-store training each week.
- Assist bakery staff with food preparation and bakery production.
- Prepare, package and present bakery products according to Pick n Pay standards.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and housekeeping.
- Deliver excellent customer service.
- Assist with merchandising and stock replenishment.
- Follow company policies, procedures and health and safety requirements.
- Work effectively as part of the bakery and store team.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability and a positive attitude throughout the programme.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- Be an unemployed South African citizen aged 18โ40 years.
- Have a passion for baking, food preparation and customer service.
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be willing to learn and develop new skills.
- Be reliable, punctual and committed to completing the programme.
- Be willing to work flexible retail trading hours, including weekends and public holidays where required.
