The South African Navy is inviting applications for a Handyman position at Naval Base Durban. This is a permanent government opportunity suitable for applicants with a minimum ABET qualification, and no previous experience is required.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

-A minimum ABET qualification.

No experience required.

-Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal).

-Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

-Planning, organising and problem-solving skills.

-Knowledge of safety procedures.

-Ability to read and interpret job instructions and drawings.

-Ability to operate building maintenance equipment and tools.

Added Advantage

Experience in general building maintenance will be an advantage.


Duties and Responsibilities

Successful applicants will be responsible for:

  • Performing cleaning duties.
  • Carrying out first-line building maintenance.
  • Repairing and maintaining fixtures and fittings.
  • Assisting with plumbing maintenance.
  • Providing grounds maintenance services.
  • Using building maintenance tools and equipment safely.
  • Ensuring facilities remain clean, functional and well maintained.
