Overview
South African Police Service is recruiting a highly skilled and experienced professional for the position of Section Head: Technology Centre of Excellence (Brigadier) at SAPS Head Office in Pretoria.
This senior management role is responsible for leading Information Systems and ICT technology development, technology innovation, systems testing, and technical expertise capabilities within SAPS Technology Management Services.
The successful candidate will oversee strategic ICT operations, innovation programmes, systems enhancement initiatives, and the management of human, financial, and information resources within the SAPS technology environment.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A 3-year Degree or Diploma (NQF Level 6 or higher) in Information Technology or equivalent qualification relevant to the post
- Minimum of 3 yearsโ appropriate managerial experience
- Valid light motor vehicle driverโs licence
- Fluency in at least two official languages, one of which must be English
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Key Responsibilities
Technology & Innovation Management
- Ensure IS/ICT technology development within SAPS
- Manage technology innovation and enhancement initiatives
- Ensure effective systems and technology testing capabilities
- Oversee technical expertise capabilities
Training & Awareness
- Coordinate awareness programmes and exhibitions
- Support technology training initiatives within SAPS environments
Resource & Operational Management
- Manage financial, human, physical, and information resources
- Ensure compliance with SAPS strategies, legislation, and policies
- Support efficient service delivery and operational effectiveness
Required Knowledge & Competencies
Applicants should have knowledge of:

Generic SAPS Appointment Requirements
Applicants must:

- Possess valid firearm competency (where applicable)
- Be willing to undergo SAPS basic or lateral training
- Undergo security vetting and lifestyle audit
- Be willing to obtain Top Secret security clearance
- Have received at least a satisfactory performance rating in the latest assessment
- Have no negative security clearance findings
