About the Role
As a Checkout Assistant, you will play an important role in creating a positive shopping experience by providing friendly customer service and ensuring that all purchases are processed accurately and efficiently. You will also maintain a clean and organised checkout area while following all company policies and cash-handling procedures.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
-Provide excellent customer service at the checkout.
-Accurately process customer purchases and payments.
-Pack purchased goods into shopping bags and trolleys according to company standards.
-Ensure the till area remains clean, organised and presentable.
-Handle cash and payment transactions in line with company procedures.
-Maintain high standards of accuracy when processing sales.
-Use cleaning materials and detergents safely when maintaining the checkout area.
-Respond positively and professionally to customer enquiries.
-Complete routine tasks efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
-Demonstrate flexibility by assisting with other duties when required.
-Follow all company policies, operational procedures and safety requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Good English communication skills.
- Ability to successfully complete the required numeracy assessment.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays when required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding duties.
