The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for 20 Cleaner vacancies at Weskoppies Hospital.
This is an excellent opportunity for applicants with Grade 10 who are looking to build a career in the public healthcare sector. Previous cleaning experience in a hospital or clinical environment will be an advantage, but is not compulsory.
Successful candidates will help maintain a clean, hygienic and safe environment for patients, visitors and healthcare staff.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
-Grade 10.
-Ability to read and write.
-Good verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to follow instructions.
-Ability to work independently and within a team.
-Physical fitness to perform cleaning duties.
-Willingness to rotate between wards and departments.
-Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
-Honest, reliable and responsible work ethic.
-Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
The following will be an added advantage:
- One (1) year or more cleaning experience in a hospital or clinical environment.
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will:
-Clean wards, offices, corridors and hospital facilities.
-Clean floors, walls, windows, furniture, beds, lockers, curtains and blinds.
-Maintain outside areas, entrances and walkways.
-Remove and dispose of waste according to hospital policies.
-Clean refrigerators, microwaves, kitchens and designated equipment.
-Wash dishes, cups and utensils in wards and departments.
-Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely.
-Clean spills immediately to maintain a safe environment.
-Replenish consumables such as soap, toilet paper and air fresheners.
-Collect meals and beverages for patients where required.
-Receive, pack and manage clean linen.
-Complete daily cleaning registers and checklists.
-Report maintenance issues, hazards and shortages to supervisors.
-Maintain high standards of hygiene and infection control.
-Perform any other duties assigned by management.
