The Department of Employment and Labour is inviting applications for 2 Client Service Officer (IES) vacancies.

These positions are available at the Labour Centres in Ladysmith and Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. This is an excellent opportunity for applicants with Grade 12 who are looking to start a career in the public service, as no previous work experience is required.

Successful candidates will assist members of the public by providing labour-related services and administrative support at the department’s help desk.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • No previous experience required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Telephone etiquette.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret legislation.
  • Interviewing skills.

Knowledge of the following will be an advantage:

  • Labour legislation and regulations.
  • ILO Conventions.
  • Public Service Regulations.
  • Public Service Act.
  • Departmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Batho Pele Principles.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

  • Provide client services at the Labour Centre help desk.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for members of the public.
  • Resolve client complaints relating to labour legislation in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Perform general administrative duties.
  • Participate in advocacy and awareness sessions when required.
  • Deliver professional and efficient customer service.
