The Department of Tourism invites applications from unemployed youth to participate in the Tourism Monitors Programme for a fixed period of four (4) months. Successful candidates will sign a 4-month contract with a service provider appointed by the Department of Tourism and will be deployed at attractions/sites closest to their residential areas.
Applicants are encouraged to apply only to municipalities and attractions within their local areas.
Minimum Requirements
-South African citizen (Certified copy of ID required)
-Unemployed youth between 18โ35 years
-Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
-Literate and conversant in English
-Reside within a 40kmโ50km radius of the attraction/site (proof of residence required, not older than 3 months)
-Must have own reliable transport to and from workplace
-Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
-Passion or interest in the tourism sector
Added Advantage:
- Qualification in tourism or environmental-related fields
Disqualification Criteria
- More than one (1) learner per household
- Affidavits will not be accepted as proof of residence
