Job Opportunity
University of Johannesburg is inviting applications for 2 Permanent General Cleaner positions at the Soweto Campus in Devland.
The successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring that campus facilities remain clean, hygienic, safe, and well maintained while supporting quality service delivery within the university environment.
๐ Applicants must reside in Devland. Proof of residence will be required.
Main Duties
Cleaning & Waste Management
โข Sweep floors using brushes or dust control mops
โข Mop floors using wet and damp mops
โข Vacuum and spot clean carpets
โข Operate floor scrubbing and polishing machines after training
โข Dust, wipe, wash, and polish furniture and surfaces
โข Empty waste bins and transport waste to collection points
โข Replenish soap, toilet paper, and paper towels
โข Clean toilets, urinals, basins, showers, and sinks
โข Correctly use and mix cleaning chemicals as instructed
โข Perform wall washing and inside window cleaning where required
โข Carry out duties responsibly with minimal supervision
Compliance & Health and Safety
โข Follow all health and safety regulations
โข Implement university safety and fire procedures
โข Promote safe working practices on campus
โข Wear protective clothing and uniforms when required
โข Ensure equipment and workspaces remain safe and secure
Customer Service Delivery
โข Execute assigned tasks professionally
โข Record inspection and maintenance activities
โข Maintain stock levels in allocated areas
โข Cooperate with clients and supervisors
โข Maintain respectful communication
โข Report faulty equipment and hazards immediately

Minimum Requirements
โข Grade 10 qualification
โข Vocational Certificate (NQF Level 1)
โข Relevant cleaning experience
โข Must reside in Devland
Added Advantages
โข Knowledge of basic cleaning practices
โข Minimum 1 year cleaning experience
โข Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification
