The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for three (3) Laundry Worker Level 2 positions at Cullinan Care & Rehabilitation Centre.

Job Overview

The successful candidates will assist with hospital laundry services by collecting, washing, ironing, repairing, packing and delivering hospital linen and clothing. The role also involves operating laundry equipment, maintaining hygiene standards, supporting infection prevention, and ensuring that clean linen is supplied to hospital wards.


Key Responsibilities

Successful applicants will be responsible for:

-Collecting and delivering linen bags to and from hospital wards.

-Operating laundry machines including washing machines, dryers and pressing equipment.

-Ironing, folding, counting and packing clean linen.

-Sorting, counting and recording dirty linen and clothing.

-Tying and labelling dirty linen bags.

-Repairing and mending torn linen where necessary.

-Assisting with linen inventory counts.

-Cleaning linen trolleys and laundry work areas.

-Ensuring delivery checklists are signed by receiving wards.

-Following Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) procedures.

-Performing additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

-Participating in meetings, training and continuous development programmes.


Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 10, Grade 11 (authenticated school report), Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work.
  • Willingness to rotate within different work areas.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Added Advantage

  • Knowledge of laundry services, linen management and sewing.
