Overview
Mapungubwe National Park & World Heritage Site is looking for a dedicated and physically fit Security Guard to join its security team. The successful candidate will support security operations, protect park assets, assist visitors, and help ensure the safety of staff, tourists, wildlife, and infrastructure within the park.
This position reports to the Ranger Corporal and Section Ranger.
Key Responsibilities
– Patrol the park to prevent poaching, unauthorised access, and illegal activities.
– Monitor all park entrances and exits and maintain accurate vehicle registers.
– Control access to the park by verifying permits and authorising entry.
– Observe and prevent theft or unauthorised removal of park property.
– Assist visitors, employees, and community groups in a professional and courteous manner.
– Respond to emergencies and report suspicious activities, fires, or security incidents.
– Drive security vehicles when required to respond to incidents or transport security personnel.
– Guide community groups, students, and learners before entering the park.
– Monitor security risks and ensure the integrity and safety of assigned areas.
– Perform additional security-related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Security Guard.
- Valid PSIRA Grades E, D and C (Grades B and A will be advantageous).
- Code C1 driver’s licence with a valid PDP will be an added advantage.
- Ability to communicate in English (knowledge of Tshivenda, Xitsonga and Sepedi will be advantageous).
- Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Physically fit, mentally alert, punctual, responsible and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Salary and Benefits
The successful candidate will receive a salary in line with the Paterson B2 grading structure, including applicable allowances and employee benefits in accordance with SANParks’ Conditions of Service.
Official accommodation within the park will be provided. Due to limited housing, successful candidates must be willing to share accommodation.
