Robben Island Museum (RIM) is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for 3 Shop Assistant positions within the Finance Department. These are 6-month contract opportunities for candidates with Matric and relevant retail, cashier or customer service experience.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
–Matric / Grade 12
-Minimum 2 years’ experience in retail, customer service, or as a till operator/cashier
-Good literacy and numeracy skills
-Ability to speak English and at least two other languages, either local or foreign
A Higher Certificate in Retail Business Management, Retail Management, Marketing, Sales or Business Management will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
-Handling and controlling stock
-Loading and offloading cargo
-Assisting with sales and admissions
-Handling cash and reconciling daily cash receipts
-Monitoring stock budgets and purchases
-Maintaining customer service, quality, health and safety standards
-Responding to customer complaints and comments
-Responding to general enquiries about the centre and local history when required
-Organising special promotions and merchandise displays
-Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
-Ensuring the security of stock
