The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for 3 Stores Assistant vacancies at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.

This is a re-advertised opportunity for applicants with an ABET Level 2 certificate or equivalent who are looking to start a career in the public healthcare sector. No previous work experience is required.

Successful candidates will assist with receiving, storing, issuing and distributing hospital stock, consumables and equipment while ensuring efficient inventory management.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

-ABET Level 2 certificate or equivalent.

–No previous work experience required.

-Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

-Good communication skills.

-Good interpersonal skills.

-Basic organisational skills.

-Ability to operate a photocopy machine.

-Ability to physically move and distribute stock and equipment.

-Ability to work under pressure and prioritise tasks.

Knowledge of basic work procedures and warehouse operations will be an advantage.


Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

-Receive, store and distribute stock to hospital departments.

-Deliver consumables, medical supplies and equipment to wards and offices.

-Move new, obsolete and redundant assets within the hospital.

-Assist with stocktaking and inventory verification.

-Investigate stock discrepancies.

-Maintain housekeeping standards in storerooms.

-Pack and organise storerooms according to inventory procedures.

-Receive, store and distribute Afrox cylinders, liquid solutions and other consumables.

-Handle and resolve supply-related queries.

-Ensure condemned and scrapped assets are stored correctly for disposal.

-Maintain accurate filing and record keeping of inventory documents.
