Overview
An exciting opportunity is available for a Food Service Assistant to join a healthcare catering team in the Western Cape. The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, meal serving, and maintaining high standards of hygiene while supporting the delivery of quality meals to patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
– Assist chefs with the preparation and cooking of general and special diet meals.
– Dish up and present meals according to quality standards.
– Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and food preparation areas.
– Perform general housekeeping duties within the kitchen.
– Assist with the operation of kitchen equipment and utensils.
– Support and assist with the training and guidance of junior staff when required.
– Ensure food preparation areas remain clean, organised, and safe at all times.
– Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Previous experience as a Food Service Assistant.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment such as weighing scales and other food preparation tools.
- Willingness to work overtime when required.
- Honest, reliable, and committed to delivering quality service.
