Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) recognised by SAQA in:
    • Law
    • Public Management
    • Public Administration
    • Policing
    • Criminology
    • Forensics
    • Criminal Justice
  • Basic understanding of the Immigration Act and Refugees Act.
  • Knowledge of the South African Constitution.
  • Understanding of the Public Service Regulatory Framework.
  • Valid driver’s licence (Code B/C1/C/EC1).
  • Valid Public Driving Permit (PDP).
  • Willingness to travel outside South Africa when required.
  • Willingness to work extended hours.

Key Duties

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Enforcing the Immigration Act and related legislation.
  • Detecting, tracing and arresting illegal foreigners.
  • Processing deportations.
  • Conducting investigations and inspections.
  • Participating in anti-corruption and law enforcement operations.
  • Processing detention warrants.
  • Monitoring immigration cases and records.
  • Presenting evidence in court.
  • Issuing notices and admission of guilt fines.
  • Ensuring compliance with permit conditions.
  • Working with other security cluster agencies.
  • Safeguarding departmental assets and resources.
