About the Cash Office Clerk Position
The Cash Office Clerk plays an important role in ensuring that the store’s daily monetary controls are accurately reconciled.
The successful candidate will be expected to identify and report discrepancies promptly and ensure that cash-office activities are performed according to company procedures.
The position requires someone who is trustworthy, accurate and comfortable working with cash, banking records and daily sales figures.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
-Issuing working floats to tills each day.
-Balancing each cashier’s float against daily sales.
-Using cashier reports to reconcile floats and transactions.
-Balancing Lotto money daily.
-Banking Lotto money daily.
-Controlling cash floats.
-Managing the change required for store operations.
-Processing claims.
-Following up on outstanding claims.
-Relieving Front-End Supervisors during lunch breaks.
-Following all cash-office safety protocols.
-Keeping the Cash Office neat and tidy.
-Following store procedures when using the in-store safe.
-Banking the store’s daily takings.
-Balancing banking amounts against daily sales.
-Recording banking balances against daily sales.
-Reporting discrepancies according to company procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Have Grade 12.
- Have 1โ3 years’ experience as a Cash Office Clerk.
- Be computer literate.
- Have good problem-solving skills.
- Have good communication skills.
- Be flexible and willing to work weekends.
- Be willing to work on public holidays.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity.
The following will be advantageous:
- An Accounting qualification.
- Previous experience relieving Front-End Supervisors.
