Overview
Seriti New Vaal Colliery is inviting applications from external candidates residing within the New Vaal Colliery host communities for its Engineering Learnership 18.2 Programme. This learnership offers aspiring artisans the opportunity to receive structured technical training and practical workplace experience while working towards becoming a qualified artisan in the mining industry.
Available Trades
- Diesel Mechanic
- Auto Electrician
Key Responsibilities
– Participate in structured theoretical and practical artisan training.
– Learn to inspect, maintain and repair mining equipment.
– Develop technical skills under the guidance of qualified artisans.
– Follow all workplace health, safety and mining regulations.
– Attend all required training sessions and assessments.
– Work shifts, standby duties and call-outs when required.
– Maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism.
Entry Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) and Physical Science with a minimum of 40% (E Symbol), plus two relevant N2 trade subjects,
OR
- N2 Certificate with four relevant trade-related subjects.
Diesel Mechanic applicants must have:
- Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Engineering Drawing
- Diesel or Motor Trade Theory
Auto Electrician applicants must have:
- Mathematics
- Engineering Science
- Industrial Electronics
- Electrical Trade Theory
- Valid Code B (K53) driver’s licence.
- Able to obtain a Certificate of Fitness.
- No criminal record.
- Willing to undergo psychometric assessments.
- Able to work shifts and under pressure.
Advantageous
- Previous mining industry experience.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Safety-conscious with a strong work ethic.

- Preference will be given to applicants from the New Vaal Colliery host communities.
