About the Position
The main purpose of the Local Clerk: Cash Office position is to ensure that relevant cash-office documentation is accurately completed and verified.
The successful candidate must also ensure that all float and cash-office security procedures are followed at all times.
Because the position involves cash, reconciliation and financial records, candidates should be comfortable performing routine tasks accurately and paying close attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
-Balancing cashiers’ daily takings.
-Completing cashier settlement sheets.
-Recording cashier shortages and overages.
-Completing and reconciling taking sheets where applicable.
-Preparing takings for collection.
-Ensuring relevant documentation is completed accurately.
-Verifying documentation before collection.
-Physically banking cash and cheques where applicable.
-Ordering change for the following day’s trading where applicable.
-Communicating takings figures to the support office where applicable.
-Reporting discrepancies to management where applicable.
-Ensuring float and cash-office security procedures are followed at all times.
-Adhering to all cash-office policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Have at least Grade 10.
- Be able to communicate effectively.
- Be able to communicate in English.
- Be conscientious and willing to work according to established procedures.
- Be comfortable handling routine work.
- Be thorough and accurate.
- Have strong attention to detail.
