About the Dis-Chem Cashier Opportunities
Dis-Chem Cashiers are responsible for supporting customers at the point of sale while helping provide a professional shopping experience.
Cashiers record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system and are expected to follow company policies and standard operating procedures accurately.
Several of the casual vacancies are also being advertised to create a strategic talent pool. Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
-Have Grade 12 / Matric.
-Have at least 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
Successful Cashiers may be responsible for:
- Providing professional customer service.
- Following Dis-Chem’s customer-service policies and procedures.
- Establishing professional relationships with customers.
- Reporting customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
- Adhering to required customer turnover rates.
- Staying informed about current sales and promotions.
- Ensuring customers and colleagues are not exposed to unnecessary risks.
- Following Dis-Chem’s communication principles.
- Managing cash flow responsibly.
- Ensuring line voids and price changes are approved by the appropriate supervisor.
- Processing authorised merchandise exchanges and returns.
- Processing customer purchases accurately.
- Receiving and processing cash payments.
- Processing bank card payments.
- Processing vouchers, coupons and other accepted payment methods.
- Processing applicable loyalty cards and rewards programmes.
- Placing cash in the drop safe according to company procedures.
- Keeping till codes and passwords secure.
- Ensuring all outgoing products, stock and scripts are scanned and paid for.
- Keeping money safely and securely inside the till.
- Handling daily takings confidentially.
- Reporting suspicious behaviour to management.
- Assisting customers with queries about store merchandise.
- Following Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures.
- Maintaining accuracy and helping reduce the risk of fraud.
